10 Tips for Great Skin
|
- Does your face feel tight after washing? Your cleanser is probably too strong. Try something gentler, like Noxema or Dove - and never use regular soap!
- Did you know that your legs get dryer than the rest of your body? That's because the skin on your legs is thicker and has fewer oil glands. The best time to moisturize them..... and the rest of your body..... is within 3 minutes of your shower. It also maxes out your body lotion's moisturizing power, since your skin is still slightly damp.
- Got dry feet? No prob! Use hand lotion on your feet before going to bed, and cover them with baggies. Then, put on a pair of socks. By morning, you'll be totally smooth!
- Got puffy eyes? Believe it or not, moist tea bags over each eyelid will do the trick. But make sure you only use chamomile tea..... regular tea can stain your skin.
- Did you know that some fruits, like papaya for instance, have enzymes that help your body look great? But don't eat it..... wear it! The next time you're out shopping, or your Mom buys fruit, pick up a fresh pineapple or papaya and use the inside of the fruit skin to massage your face. It's a natural exfoliate!
- It's almost time to go back to school - but don't stress! Anxiety can cause your skin to freak out as much as heredity or hormones.
- You wouldn't believe this, but your pillowcase can be your own worst enemy if you have oily skin. Dirt and oil can collect on it, and will definitely irritate your skin further. Change out your pillowcase at least twice a week - more when it's hot out!
- You might not even give it a thought, but guess what? When washing your face, make sure you never use downward motions. Use only upwards, circular motions. This helps keep your skin elastic.
- To avoid drying up even the oiliest skin, don't use astringents or anti-acne products more than twice a day. Your skin needs some oils to protect it, and your body might try to compensate and produce more oil!
- Once you've cleansed your face, make sure you get all the suds or residue off. ( a washcloth might help) Left over cleanser could irritate your skin.
