10 Make-Up Dos and Don'ts
|
- Do add some translucent powder to your eyelids before applying eye shadow in order to keep your eye shadow in place.
- Don't rub foundation over a zit! Once you've covered it up, be delicate when applying foundation.
- Do add a dab of shimmer right in the center of your lower lip to create the illusion of fuller lips.
- Do use the tip of your pinkie to test lipstick shades when shopping. The skin there most resembles your lip color - and who wants to use lipstick that someone has already tried??
- Don't use colored mascara on light lashes: it can look too bright. Try applying black mascara first and applying the colored one afterwards for a more subtle effect.
- Do take the blush test: Squint your eyes and look into a mirror. If you can still see your blush, it's too much color and you need to tone it down.
- Don't use blush as eye makeup! It isn't approved by the FDA for use around the eyes.
- Do put a bit of powder on your eyelashes before you apply mascara to make them look thicker. (Be sure to close your eyes first!)
- Do make sure to look downward as you apply eyeliner. The reason is that this flattens out your lids and your lines come out much straighter.
- Don't try to wipe off eye shadow that you have overdone. It will just get messy. Instead, just use a powder puff to press translucent face powder over the area to mellow the color.
