Have you always wondered if the necklace or earrings that you love to wear really look good on you? Have you wished for some good advice and don't know who to ask? Here are some basic rules to go by:
The Athletic Build
Jewelry -- The earrings that you wear should be long or wide with larger, geometric designs or choker style. Pearls will look great, as long as you wear them close around your neck or they are the large, chunky size. Big looks are the best for you. Definitely avoid the dainty and the delicate! Anything delicate will look lost on your athletic upper torso. Long pendant necklaces that hang down to your bust area will make you look too wide. Bracelets, of course, are fine, as long as they are not too dainty either.
Scarves -- Scarves are showing up all over as an important way to accessorize, and you can enjoy wearing them, but only wear them vertically so that your shoulders are not accentuated.
Shoes -- As in the jewelry that you wear, you can wear any height heel, as long as they area not dainty looking.
The Curvy Hourglass Shape
Jewelry -- You can wear just about any type of stone or pearl earring or necklace, as long as they are not chunky - delicate looks are best on you. That means that your earrings should be mid length or shorter. If your bust is too big, avoid longer necklaces. Chokers will look good, and any necklace that hangs to just above your bust line. Brooches will only accentuate what you don't need to draw attention to.
Scarves -- You are lucky! You can wear them any way you want!
Shoes -- You have small ankles, so any delicate shoe will work well for you - especially dainty ankle straps.
Wider Waisted Shape
Jewelry -- Longer earrings will do you justice, especially if you wear your hair up. And you can definitely wear necklaces that drop down low. Any type worn long will look good on you - from pearls to stones. Just remember that you should not wear chunky necklaces!
Scarves -- If you like wearing scarves, then just make sure that you wear them draped long in order to draw attention away from your middle.
Shoes -- You are lucky! Most shoes will compliment your legs. It is best though, to avoid any heavy looking ornamentation on your shoes.
The Straight Body
Jewelry -- Medium is the name of the game for you! Medium length earrings (any shape) and medium length necklaces (below your neck line and above your bust line) work best for you. Your type can wear brooches well.
Scarves -- Again, with this shape, you should wear your scarves vertically. Don't wrap them around your neck, as it will only make you look less shapely.
Shoes -- You can wear any shoe you like! Just don't wear shoes with too much dainty detail.
Pear Shaped Body with a Defined Waist
Jewelry -- The name of the game here is to draw attention away from your lower torso. That means that you shouldn't wear anything chunky, whether it is earrings or necklaces. Otherwise, any earrings will look fabulous on you. And any necklace will look great, as long as it's not long. You can also wear brooches if they are worn high.
Scarves -- You are the type that can wear your scarves horizontally around your shoulders. This will balance out your upper and your lower torso.
Shoes -- No clunky or heavy shoes for you. They will only make you look wider. Avoid any horizontal stripes or straps as well. Any size heel will do.
Pear Shaped with no Defined Waist
Jewelry -- Jewelry works well for your body type. Bright colors and interesting shapes will draw attention to your face and upper body. Don't choose anything too dainty or small that it can't be seen. And - you guessed it! - no long necklaces that hang low. Try to keep your necklaces close to your neckline.
Scarves -- Scarves are your friends. You can wear them hanging down or wrapped around your neck gracefully.
Shoes -- Here again, don't wear horizontal lines on your shoes and avoid heavy looking ones. Flat shoes or very high heels would not flatter your legs or your shape. Keep to medium heels and try to keep those as open as possible.
