Your Perfect Prom Dress!
|
Let's face it: there are a million dresses out there.
How do you choose which dress looks best on you? Don't get caught up in picking
something you love that just doesn't do anything for you! Here are a few suggestions
that will point you in the right direction:
The Full Figure-
Look for a flowing, not clingy dress. This will ensure that your curves are shown
off. Find an A line dress with a shapely waist. Corsets, drop waists and fit n'
flair dresses would be great for you as well! And don't be shy about accessorizing!
The Pear Shape Figure-
Attention to your upper body is what you need. Look for A line dresses that emphasize
your upper torso. That means that any embroidery, lace, shirring, ruching, pleating,
illusion necklines - basically any detailing on your upper body will compliment
your looks. Again, don't be afraid to accessorize.
The Small on Top Figure-
If you are small on top, you don't want to complicate the top portion of your dress.
Keep the neckline straight- whether it is with spaghetti straps, off the shoulder,
empire waist or strapless. This will add emphasis to your top and make your lower
torso, or hips, look smaller. And any accessories will look great on you! Concentrate
on earrings and bracelets.
The Boyish or Lean Figure-
Any style that includes ruching, pleats, asymmetrical hems or overlays, hi-lo hems
or hanky hems will give your body the accents it needs to add interest. Patterns
created with beads, rhinestones or sequins, multiple layers and colors are all great
assets for your body type. And don't forget the accessories!
The Hourglass Figure-
You can and should wear slinky fabrics, dramatic lines, solid colors, deep slits,
cut out or illusion waists and deep colors. Show it off! And, again, don't forget
your accessories!
